Bertie Basset is a man made out of licorice. He has a hat, and a stripey body, and I think he also has a cane. No doubt standing straight is rather difficult when you don't have a skeleton.

He once made a guest appearance in an episode of Dr Who, in which he went down a slide and melted to death.

But primarily, Mr Basset is the mascot for the popular sweet selection 'Licorice Allsorts'.
There are many different types of allsort found in a bag - the short stack, the high stack, the filled barrel, the solid barrel, the twist, the wheel, not forgetting the two beaded jellys. There's even a rare licorice reproduction of Mr Basset himself.

But which is the most popular?
