Best Memory

"I don't remember".

How many times have you said that?
If you're anything like me, you've said it loads of times.

I don't have a great memory.
Once, I forgot who my dentist was! This caused much hilarious confusion - I was having a filling at the time!

Memory can be improved, it has been suggested, by linking memories so that they become stories.
For example, suppose you were attempting to memorize a sequence of random numbers: 7, 16, 3, 91 and 66. Instead of simply remembering the numbers, you could turn them into the following story:

7 ducks were walking down the road. They saw 16 dogs riding 3 tractors at 91 miles per hour! The end. 66.

As you can see, it's much easier!

But not everyone has to rely on stupid tricks in order to remember things: there's one group of people in particular who have a very good memory: Rain Men.
If you've ever seen the film 'Rain Man', you'll know what I mean. It's a film all about a twitchy, shouty fellow who travels around America with Tom Cruise.
He is a Rain Man, since he can memorise a whole phone book in the blink of an eye.

You think that's impressive - wait until you see an elephant! For the best memory belongs not to a Rain Man. It belongs to an elephant!
This is because, apparently, an elephant never forgets anything.

WOW!
