Humanity faces difficult times. What will we do when the Sun explodes? How much will milk cost when all the cows have evolved? What is that awful smell that comes out from under my kitchen sink in the evenings? By far the most pressing concern is the question of energy - how can we create more, without polluting the atmosphere and killing several tigers?
Unfortunately, according to science, energy cannot be created - it can only be transformed into a different kind of energy! The definitely means that, in order to create more petrol energy (for cars), humanity (Sophie Ellis Bextor) needs to stop consuming so much voice energy (singing).
Wind turbines are another way of turning one form of energy into another. But where as the traditional windmill turned air energy into a delicious loaf of bread energy, a wind turbine goes one step further, taking that bread energy and turning it into a plate of sandwiches.
The greatest number of sandwiches are generated by the highest altitude wind generator - a turbine on the top of Scafell Pike, Yorkshire. On a gusty day, about 208 sandwiches can be generated - enough to ruin an olympic sized swimming pool!
WOW!
