FORE!
If you are a keen golfer, you probably think I'm about to hit a golf ball.
Of course, I'm not. I don't even know where to start with how wrong you are.
Golfers shout this magic word in order to warn other players. It's a good idea - golf balls are made of metal.
Wouldn't it be a good idea if similar sports had these 'warning calls' too?
Sports such as... oh, I don't know... ANGLING?
After all, in angling, it's not a metal ball you're propelling across vast distances - it's a metal barbed hook! And we all know that a hook is twenty-three times more dangerous than a ball!
If only anglers shouted something before 'casting off'. Perhaps then, the unluckiest angler wouldn't have been quite so unlucky.
The unluckiest angler is Ken Board who, during a competition, caught a tin can, an old boot, and a bicycle horn.
And then he ripped off his own face when the hook got caught in his nose.
